Alexander Ramsey High School revisited

In the 1969-1970 school year, students at Alexander Ramsey High School in Roseville, MN produced a newspaper cited as one of six noteworthy high school publications in the country.

This website contains all 15 issues of Ramsey Blueprint, the student newspaper published at Ramsey during that school year. They are presented here partly for the benefit of former Ramsey students, who may enjoy perusing the pages and remembering events and schoolmates from more than 50 years ago. But also for anyone who is interested in what one high school in a St. Paul suburb was like in that era.

It was a different time, transformed by the social and cultural revolution of the 1960s. Yet the challenges and issues facing students and teachers then were some of the same ones that make headlines today: Student walkouts and demonstrations. Pollution and the environment. Sex education and drug use. The competition for grades and the race to college.

Ramsey’s school newspaper covered it all, along with homecoming, the prom, school plays and Friday night football games.

Read all about it.
