Download times
These 11 x 17 pages are large files. Single pages range from 16 to 20 MB. Complete issues range from 200 to 310 MB. Individual pages should download in a few seconds; complete issues may take up to one minute or longer. (These estimates are based on the average broadband download speed in the U.S., which is about 50 megabits per second. Your results may vary and download times may be longer.)

Wrinkles, smudges and other quality issues
These pages were printed on newsprint almost 50 years ago and stored in various locations (usually in the back of a closet) until they were scanned in the summer of 2017. Pages had yellowed and ink had faded. In addition, there were often quality issues in the original press runs: too much ink or not enough, streaks, spots, wrinkles and other problems. Pages were adjusted after scanning for color and contrast but in most cases only minimal retouching was done. Some photos in these issues, especially larger images, may exhibit a moire pattern -- a crosshatched or dotted appearance.
Centerspreads
In five of the issues, page layout of the two center pages (i.e, pages 6 and 7 of a 12 page issue) used the entire 22 x 17 area as a canvas. For these larger pages, type and photos may cross what would have been the space between two individual pages. Also, in some cases the design required the reader to tilt the page at a right angle to view it vertically. These "centerspreads" were scanned as two 11 x 17 pages and are available for download that way. However, they were also re-combined into 22 x 17 pages and can be downloaded that way, as centerspreads, as well.

Printing
These issues should print with good results on an inkjet or laser printer that can print on 11 x 17 paper. We printed a few pages on an Epson WF-7620 inkjet all-in-one for test purposes, and the results were comparable to the original pages as scanned. Type should be readable. Of course, you can also print these pages on 8 1/2 x 11 paper, but the type will be very small.

Smartphones
Viewing these issues or this website on a smartphone is not recommended. An 11 x 17 page does not fit well on 4 to 5 inch screen.

Photos, text and copyright issues
The images on this web site were scanned from the 1969-70 Ramsey Blueprint student newspaper with additional images scanned from the Alexander Ramsey High School Rambler yearbook. Some photos originally appeared in both publications. The yearbook and the 1969-70 issues of Ramsey's student newspaper are now in the public domain. A few stock images are also used on this web site.
